Friendship Bracelet or Fashion Statement?

Remember back to when you were a little kid and making friendship bracelets was all the rage in summer camp? Bracelets made from knots made in colored string, sometimes called a ‘Chinese staircase’, sometimes they even looked like a Chinese Staircase. The point is these bracelets are making a comeback.

You can find them at the beach in touristy shops, and you can also find them at places like Urban Outfitters. These colorful, woven bands can sometimes cost over ten dollars, but there is no need to pay that much. If you have even a little bit of patience and a little bit of creativity you could be making these bracelets yourself!

All you really need to make these bracelets is the string which you can find at any local craft store, a pair of scissors, tape and access to the internet. How big of a bracelet you want determines how much string you need and how much the project will cost. The string itself is very cheap, comes all in colors imaginable. Once you have the string all you need is the internet to search how to make the different style you see.

There are easy styles like the Chinese staircase that are simple to make, and take very little time. Once you get the basic technique down you can even start making up your own patterns and creating styles of your own. Once you are really comfortable you can even start weaving beads into your design. Not only will you have the coolest bracelets around, you will have saved tons of money and probably had fun making them.

If you want to wear a friendship bracelet that is made from recyclable Eco-friendly materials, Local Strands is currently selling a yellow and green Nature Charity bracelet for only $6 + Free Shipping!  This is an important bracelet to purchase because 50% of the proceeds will go to the Nurture Nature Foundation!!
