Stylist Pick: Bangles on Bangles on Bangles

This week I’m kind of obsessing over bangles (but then again when am I not?).  I definitely think it’s time for an article dedicated to just how much bangles have become a huge fashion trend and how many different ways you can wear them!  So let’s get to it.

First, might I point out two of my other articles this week: Eco-Spotlight on Alex and Ani  (debuting on Friday, July 27) & Designer Spotlight on Chelsea Charles.  These articles are about to different yet equally fabulous brands of jewelry.  Alex and Ani is an environmentally friendly brand that creates each piece from recycled metals, and their best selling products are bangles!  I have one of my own, and I can’t wait to get more to add to my collection.  They are positive energy infused products as well.  Alex and Ani bangles are a must have-they are made to keep you optimistic, energized, at peace, and also stylish- what’s better than that??

My piece on Chelsea Charles highlights her Count Me Healthy line of bracelets.  These adorable bracelets come with beautiful, delicate beads on them that you can use to keep track of a health goal.  For instance if you want to make sure you drink eight classes of water per day, push over one bead for every glass you drink, and boom!  You have a constant reminder of your goal and its progress.  There are many different styles, colors, and designs for her CMH bracelets, and I would highly recommend them for anyone who wants to be more health-conscious!

Okay, now onto the fun part… mixing it all up!  I think that the best part about bangles is that you can literally mix and match everything.  I love pairing some of my really old bracelets (that I never thought I would wear anymore) with some of my newer accessories.  It makes for a whole new look!  Unless you have a bracelet or bangle that is really cheap, ugly or falling apart, don’t you dare get rid of it.  Accessories are something that you can always reuse later on.  Whether it comes back into style, you mix it with some other bling, or use it for a completely different purpose- a good accessory will never do you wrong.  Check out this smoking hot picture of Blake Lively, rocking an arm full of bangles!  You can see that they are different shapes, size, colors, etc.  This is a perfect example of how you can pair so many of your various bracelets together for a complete set of bangles and a really stylish look!

Color is another important thing to consider when putting together a set of chic bangles.  If you want a more sophisticated look, definitely stick with the shiny silver & gold bracelets.  For the most part, the only colors you will want to use with these are neutrals, like cream or brown or black.  If a hint of color would be appropriate, then by all means- go for it.  The type of color scheme you have going on with your outfit will determine whether or not colored bangles will work.  If you’re wearing blacks or neutrals, then a pop of color in your wrist won’t do any harm.  However, if you already have a stand out color in your outfit, then I would say stick to the basics for your bling.  On the other hand, if you aren’t dressing up or going for a sophisticated look, then you can really go wild!  Especially during the summertime, mixing up bright colors can only make for a fun and vibrant look.  I like to pair most of my colors with gold jewelry, and from there you can add as many complimenting or contrasting colors as you’d like.  Obviously, don’t go overboard because then your bangles will just look like too much and you will quickly go from chic to cheap… but don’t be afraid to take a few mix and match risks!

I really like mixing up styles of arm candy together for a super sexy and unique look.  Try pairing together your watch with some neutral colored bracelets alongside of it.  Also, pair together different styles:  beaded bracelets with chunky bracelets with leather bracelets with charm bracelets- the list could go on and on!  The most important thing to remember, as I’ve already said, is to make sure you don’t do too much.  But as long as you’ve got that under control, dare to be different!  The most fun styles are the ones you create your own.  Collect different kinds of bangles from all other the place and put them all together to create your individual style- and also so you have a lot of options to choose from!  My favorite wrist wear right now is a combination of Alex and Ani, Michael Kors, and some of my grandmother’s old jewelry.  Let us know what your favorite pieces are in your set of bangles, and keep your style picks fun and fresh!
