Fall Trends I’ll Try

It’s already August and I’m sure everyone out there agrees with me when I say this summer has flown by in a sunny and humid haze! As summer ends and the trends that shaped this season go with it, new trends emerge for the fall seasons. With the help of designer look books and runway shows including Paris Fashion Week, we have access to a sneak peek of what stores will carry come September. Trends include jewel tones, textured pieces, long coats, colors and prints, and menswear inspired pieces. While most trends I’ve spotted seem appropriate only on the runway, there are a few I can see myself wearing once the weather turns colder and the leaves change color.

Military inspired: I added a pair of combat boots to my wardrobe last fall to try out the military trend, but I’ve recently had my eye on olive green cargo skinny jeans. I think they’re a great alternative to jeans or yoga pants for class. I also spotted a canvas army green jacket at Gap that would be perfect for the fall weather.

Jewel Tones: Jewel tones like emerald green, sapphire blue, dark burgundy, and amethyst purple are everywhere from runways to home décor. For the fall, I’m interested in emerald green jeans or a sheer blouse in the same color. Sapphire blue is a bit intimidating to me, but I would be interested in accessories in that color. Dark burgundy skinny jeans are also on my fall shopping list.

Menswear: The last trend I plan to try for the fall is menswear. I have an oversize flannel shirt I love and I have many oversized sweaters, but I’d like to add a boyfriend blazer and velvet loafers I’ve been obsessed with since last fall. Concerning footwear, I’m also anxious to finally take the plunge and buy a pair of oxfords.
