Style Spotlight: Elizabeth Olsen
2011 was a big year for indie film darling Elizabeth Olsen, the younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. In addition to her breakout debut role in Martha Marcy May Marlene, she also starred in Silent House and Peace, Love, and Understanding with Jane Fonda and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. This year, Olsen stars in Liberal Arts with How I Met Your Mother’s Josh Radnor and Red Lights with Robert De Niro and Sigourney Weaver. Along with her growing list of acting credentials, Elizabeth Olsen is also known for her eclectic fashion sense. From her red carpet style to her edgy street style, Olsen has been featured on many best dressed lists, and for good reason.
Elizabeth Olsen’s signature style is bold, but sophisticated and demure. She is always well-covered up and utilizes high necklines. Her red-carpet style is very couture, with luxe fabrics and daring shapes and her street style staples include menswear inspired pieces like printed boyfriend blazers, loafers, sweaters, and button-up shirts. In 2011, she turned on the glamour for the Martha Marcy May Marlene premiere in a sequin evening dress with a high slit, flapper-esque headband, and sequined Chanel clutch. At The Toronto Film Festival, she wowed in a black Carven dress adorned with statement jewelry and bold pumps. Her floor-length styles include a floral Erdem dress, a Calvin Klein shift dress, and a two-piece Chanel dress that included a full, tulle skirt and square neck sweater top.
Olsen has been featured in numerous magazine covers, her first being Nylon magazine in March of this year wearing denim cut-offs over tights with a Chanel jacket and graphic tee. She was also featured on the covers of ASOS magazine and VS magazine. Most recently, Olsen has a feature in Glamour magazine, which is available on newsstands now!
