Hello to your Best Glow!
Most of my articles are centralized around styles, trends, good buys, and cute accessories… but let’s not forget your best accessory, your natural beauty. I’m going to give you the top style girl tips on how to keep your skin, your hair, and your smile looking as radiant as ever. So let’s get to it!
I’ll start off with the easiest and most well-known area (I think) to maintain- those pearly whites! Honestly, this is somewhat of a no brainer, but I know a lot of people still need that extra reminder when you have a ton of different things to maintain… Brush at least two times a day! I actually keep an extra toothbrush tucked away in the side pocket of my purse in case I’m out of the house for a long time during the day.

Letting food and residue sit on your teeth and your gums is what causes staining and cavities! Make sure you take care of your teeth properly-, your smile is one of the first things that anyone notices about you, so you definitely want it to shine. Coffee & tea drinkers- beware. You will definitely experience staining on your teeth over time. Luckily, Crest 3D Whitening toothpaste and whitening strips work awesome! If you feel like your smile is looking a little dull, then go pick up a pair of these at your local drugstore.
Next, let’s talk about those beautiful locks of hair. With the sun, color treatments, and everyday wear and tear, our hair can end up taking a pretty good beating. I can’t say much about hair coloring other than the fact that you know it is damaging to your natural hair, so the more you continue to do it the worse it will get. Color your hair sparingly ladies and gents! In terms of the sun, it does take a toll on your hair as well. If you have color treated hair, it can be especially troublesome. Your best bet to protect your hair from the sun’s harmful rays is a hat! Grab a cute fedora, sun hat, baseball cap or even a hair wrap.

If you’re concerned about keeping your hair in pristine condition, then definitely keep this in mind. In terms of restoring your hair to better health, you must use conditioner properly. Conditioner allows re-establishment of hydrogen bonds to improve the moisture content of damaged hair. However, do not condition frequently. You don’t need to use conditioner every single time you wash your hair. Use it only when you feel like you really need to. Your hair will naturally recover from damage over time, but you need to let it. If your hair is looking dull, then lay off the styling products and harsh sun rays or coloring. Natural is beautiful, so give your hair a break and let it restore itself to its natural health.
Now onto what I think is the most important part- having beautiful skin. If you follow my articles, then you know by now that I love laurenconrad.com. She recently just posted a piece about acne fighting foods! Awesome, right? Feel free to search for it on her site, but if you want the short & sweet version, then here are some good acne fighting food suggestions: salmon, walnuts, cherries, berries, green tea, spinach, almonds, onion, garlic, whole grains, melons, oranges, tomatoes, strawberries, soybeans, eggs, leafy greens, carrots, bell peppers, cantaloupes, artichokes, oatmeal, brown rice, fresh veggies, and water! All of these foods contribute to keeping your body and your skin rich with Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, healthy antioxidants, selenium, and magnesium. Remember to stay away from foods that are high in sodium, and go for foods that are higher in water content.
After you are on the right track with your eating habits, remember to moisture and scrub your skin regularly! Make a habit of washing your face and your body with a good exfoliating scrub/wash, moisturizing your skin with lotion that is good for you (seriously-go for natural and skin friendly lotions, not just ones that smell good), and always always always remember to take off your makeup before bed! If you don’t remove your makeup before bed you are just keeping your pores trapped under dirt and oil (ew) and causing your skin to break out. Let your skin and your pores breathe! If you can get away with wearing no makeup for the day, then do it. Makeup is fun and enhances beauty, but it definitely takes a toll on your skin. Be sure to get natural and light makeup products, including a light bronzer with a hint of shimmer to show off your best glow!
These are the best and smartest ways to maintain that natural splendor which you all possess. Be sure to take care of your skin, hair, and teeth so that nothing gets left behind. Personal hygiene and maintenance is the key to looking and staying at your absolute best. Keep on shining, and let your natural beauty become your best kept accessory.
