The Sneaker of the Future

Personally, I am anti-sneaker, with running shoes being the only exception. I think shoes like Converse, Vans, and Nike Air Maxes are cute and look great with certain outfits, but every time I’ve worn sneakers, I’ve been disappointed with the result. However, I have recently been thinking of giving a new style of sneaker a try: the wedge sneaker. I first saw this look in April when Kate Bosworth wore a pair by Isabel Marant and I wasn’t impressed. But, lately I’ve been taking a lot of fashion risks, so the more I see this style, the more appealing it gets.

This trend has been seen among celebs like Elle Fanning, Beyonce, Ciara and on the runway last September as part of the Marc Jacobs Spring 2012 fashion show. Wedge sneakers are a unique accessory for any daytime look, whether you are going to class, running errands, or having a lunch date with the girls or your significant other.

Designers like Isabel Marant, Marc Jacobs, and Guiseppe Zanotti have this style of sneaker for a large price tag, but budget-conscious fashionistas can still score a bargain pair for 160 dollars or less. ASOS, Steve Madden, Nasty Gal (Pictured Above), and even teen stores like Delias offer this style for anywhere from 70 to 160 dollars, which is way better than the 900 dollar price tag of Isabel Marant’s pair.

These shoes can be worn with skinny jeans for a tall and lean look, or with boyfriend jeans for an effortlessly casual look. This futuristic shoe comes in a variety of colors and prints, so anyone who wants to try this trend and put an edgy spin on their outfit has a bevy of options to choose from!
