3 Essentials When Choosing a Bathing Suit

As the saying goes, its summertime and the living is easy. Summer is also the time when people go on vacation, and the one essential item you need when you go on vacation is a bathing suit, and a good one; sometimes, people even bring more than one with them (I am one of those individuals).

There are so many different types of bathing suits today, it’s hard to choose! There are various patterns, designs, cuts, and styles, and some even have extra padding in the tops for those of us who have a smaller chest. String bikinis are usually the most popular, but they have since evolved. Choosing a bikini may seem simple, but there are three essential elements you should look for when purchasing one:

1) Make sure your chest actually fits in your bathing suit top. I have seen one too many girls wearing bikini tops that are way too small for them; their chest is practically falling out. It doesn’t look tasteful, sexy, or stylish at all, it just looks distasteful and trashy. I know it’s harder for girls with a larger chest to find tops that fit them good and support them, but there are such tops out there that exist. Whether it’s a halter, bandeau, or triangle top, or the designs are stripes, floral or animal print, a solid color, etc find the right size and cut that suits your chest size. You will be more comfortable and you will look better rather than letting it all hang out, trust me.

2) Keep your cheeks in. Ladies, keep a little to the imagination, no one wants to see your entire butt out of your bathing suit bottom; otherwise, you might as well be wearing a thong in public. I know bottoms are small, and obviously they’re designed so that some of your butt may show, but that doesn’t mean you should take advantage of it or purchase a bottom that is a size or two too small. It doesn’t look classy one bit, and makes me cringe. Save that for the bedroom, you want to keep the cheeks in check. I know many bathing suit bottoms are low rise so it may be difficult keeping it all it, but it is very much possible, so just do it! You don’t want it to look like you’re trying too hard to purposely show off your bikini body, it’s not cute. You essentially want to come off confident and that your look is effortless. There is such a thing as showing off the right amount of skin without going overboard, it’s very easy: just buy the right size.

3) Finally, pick a bathing suit that compliments your body type. Certain designs and styles look better on people with particular body types. For example, having a smaller chest and being on the thinner side, I usually look for a bathing suit with a bandeau or triangle top that is either a push up or has extra padding. When choosing a bottom, I usually opt for a side tie one or a hipster short so I have moderate coverage; I ultimately want a design that gives me curves. However, I think if you have the confidence, you can rock anything! You want to wear the bathing suit, not let it wear you. Don’t be afraid to flaunt your curves or show off your body! Even if you aren’t one hundred percent comfortable being in a bikini, there are cute one pieces you can choose from, as well as tankinis. There are also boy short and skirt bottoms too if you are more conservative; the possibilities really are endless. No matter your body type, you are beautiful and perfect the way you are, just remember that.

Overall, just have fun with it! Don’t stress yourself out or get all worked up for nothing, shopping is supposed to be fun. You will look good no matter what as long as you are confident and follow my three essentials. You don’t want to give people the wrong impression; they are very quick to judge, especially based on what you’re wearing. Whether you need a bathing suit to go to the beach, go on vacation, or just swim in your pool, choose one that suits and flatters you.
