My Problems with Pinterest
I have put off getting a Pinterest account for months. As my Facebook newsfeed became cluttered with pinnings I began to resent the website more and more. My single friends were posting ideas for their future weddings, my childless friends were posting cute things for babies, and my lazy friends were posting elaborate DIY ideas. I could go on and on about all the boards I’ve seen.
A week or two ago I was getting dinner with a childhood friend that I hadn’t seen in months. While we were catching up I mentioned this blog. “Oh my gosh,” she cried, “I’ve seen that blog on Pinterest!” Wait, what? Blogs are on Pinterest (for the record, I can’t find us on Pinterest)? What else is on Pinterest? “Fashion, hairstyles, make-up, funny pictures, art, a bunch of stuff, you know?” No, I didn’t know. That’s why I asked. “Pinterest could help you find some article ideas. It’s really cool. You’ll like it.” Ugh. Apparently I could no longer avoid this website anymore.
The next day I got the invite to Pinterest and I began my journey. After playing around with my options for a while I finally settled on eight boards: Quotes (for cool quotes), NOMS (for food and drinks), DIY (for cool projects), LOL (for funny things), Looking Good (for anything fashion/hair/make-up), Places & Spaces (for architecture and interior design), Animals (for all the adorable animals on the internet), and Ooooooooh (for cool prints and patterns). I have 68 pins total and it hasn’t even been a week.
Even if I fall head over heels in love with Pinterest, I will still love my rebel website, Pinterest, You Are Drunk, ten times more. Pinterest, You Are Drunk is a tumblr account dedicated to finding the most ridiculous things on Pinterest and mocking them. The thing that really got me hooked was the Mom Jean Planters they had months ago. Simply stand your mom jeans up against a fence and turn them into pots for your favorite plants to rest in. Voila! Ridiculousness. If you ever find yourself bored, with Pinterest or other things, check out that website for a few laughs. You will never look at Pinterest the same way again.
