Spice Up Your Life!
In exciting Olympic news, rumors are swirling that the greatest 90’s girl band of all time, The Spice Girls, will be performing at the Olympic Games closing ceremony. According to many reports, Victoria Beckham was not for the reunion, but has since come around. This will be the second time the band will be back together, with the last time being for their comeback tour in 2008, which I attended! Needless to say, it was amazing and I loved seeing the gaudy and over the top 90’s fashion. The style of the 90’s and today is vastly different, but you can still mix and match elements from both decades to pay homage to The Spice Girls.
First up is Emma “Baby Spice” Bunton. Her style was the youngest out of all the women with staples like babydoll dresses in blue, pink, and white and signature platform shoes. Nowadays, she can be seen in form-fitting silhouettes and dark colors, like red and green.
Melanie “Scary Spice” Brown’s signature style consisted of lots of animal prints and other in your face styles, like crop tops, cargo pants, and of course, platforms. Mel B’s style is still bold today, with staples such as brightly colored bandage dresses, sky-high stilettos, and dramatic jumpsuits.
Geri “Ginger Spice” Halliwell is best known for always sporting that Union Jack dress with the British flag, along with anything red, shimmery, short and over the top. Today, Geri Halliwell can be seen in form-fitting dresses in pinks, blues, florals, and intricate lace numbers.
Melanie “Sporty Spice” Chisholm was always sporting a bright sports bra, Adidas track pants, and athletic sneakers to represent the sporty side of girl power. Today, she exhibits a feminine style consisting of pastel separates and dramatic dresses.
Lastly, Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham always wore classy, dark designer dresses with strappy stilettos. She still exhibits a sophisticated style and utilizes dark colors and form-fitting black dresses with the highest heels known to man.
