Your Guide to The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Swim 2013: Miami
Swim Fashion Week in Miami is here! What’s hotter than some babes in bikini’s in the hot Miami heat?? I’m giving you the schedule of what’s to come for this Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, what looks to keep your eyes open for, and my favorite trends in this year’s 2013 collection!
To start, let’s be sure that we all know what to expect and when to expect it. The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is in Miami this summer, featuring many of the hottest 2013 swimwear designer collections. This Fashion Week goes from July 19th-23rd, and will be coming straight from Miami Beach! (sexy, right?)
Thursday, July 19th is the kickoff, where “Lisa Blue” will be starting us off with her 2013 swimwear collection at 7 pm. Lisa Blue is a collection that represents the girl of the future- so if you’re into eclectic and futuristic styles, definitely be on the lookout for this line of swimwear!
Designer Lisa Burke creates her styles to be sexy, beautiful, powerful, and also environmentally conscious. If I had to describe what I have seen from Lisa Burke’s collections in the past, I would call it goddess swimwear. Her combination of beauty and power creates a goddess feeling in her swimwear, one that shines in its own way and really makes a statement.

On Friday, July 20th, the show will be getting into full swing with an entire night of different designers. Starting at 5 pm there will be six different designer collections showcased, lasting one hour each.
First, ÉCLAIRÉE will be starting off the night. Designer and creative director Kelly Carrington reflects her personal style in this collection through her international travel influences, love of music, appreciation of art, and interpretation of modern elegance.
Next up will be Agua Bendita, a Colombian swimwear company by designers and owners Catalina Álvarez and Mariana Hinestroza. Agua Bendita is a younthful, happy, upbeat brand that really brings joy and character alive through its garments. This brand embraces the concept that all women are “bendita’s” (blessed), beautiful, eye-catching, and famous. How fun and inspiring do these girls sound!?
The third collection of the night will be Poko Pano, swimwear made by designer Paola Robba. Her styles are very young and hip, and have also been sold by Victoria’s Secret!
In the number four spot is long-time brand and designer Dolores Cortés, with her strikingly unique collection. The Cortés collections are known for their bright and bold colors and patterns, so if you like to stand out- this is the swimwear collection for you!
Second to last is Vitamin A by Laguna Beach local Amahlia Stevens. This line is equally chic and functional, known as the LBD of swimwear (or LBB- little black bikini!) Stevens has also created “green bikinis,” using fiber made of would-be waste diverted from landfills, and she is proud that every Vitamin A bikini is produced in California… So if you are into that Cali swag, this is your girl.
Finally, tomorrow night will end with Nicolita by designer Nicole Di Rocco, and I have a feeling this collection will definitely scream “Miami!” Di Rocco gets her inspiration from cultural Cuban Roots combined with her experience of living in Malibu, California. She is known for her conservative yet sexy swimwear with curve-flattering styles.
On Saturday, July 21st, the evening will begin at 5 pm with Kooey Australia by designer and director Nikki Silverthorne. She creates cutting edge and on trend styles inspired by Australia’s landscape and rich culture. This collection will definitely be visibly sophisticated, hence Nikki’s “rich culture” inspiration- very classy.
Next will be Caffe Swimwear, a Colombian luxury woman’s beachwear line. This collection will be a great mix of high fashion and glam… definitely reminds me of styles Kim Kardashian would wear!
Third is Aqua Di Lara, the lusted after designer swimwear line by award-winning Creative Director, Reyhan Sofraci. From what this designer has created in the past, I can see this collection showing off some new and stylish cuts, designs, and shapes for its swimwear!
Next up is Mara Hoffman Swim designed by (you guessed it) Mara Hoffman. She is known for the originality of her designs and fearless approach to print and color. If you are into eclectic and boho chic styles, and like to take risks in what you wear, then this is the swimwear line for you!
Fifth in line is XTRA LIFE LYCRA® Brand Swim 2013 to feature many different brand designs! They plan to highlight the beauty and strength of swimwear designs, so make sure you tune in to see all the brands they feature!
Last but not least is CIA.MARÍTIMA, the hottest and most popular swimwear in Brazil by Benny Rosset. His fashions are based on glamour, sophistication, and elegance. After looking at Rosset’s previous collections, I can only define it in one word: hot.
On Sunday, July 22nd, there will be two off-site collections shown at 2 & 3 pm: BCBGMAXAZRIA & Gottex. Both of these will be sure to please the audience with their 2013 swimwear designs being the up and coming hot looks to keep your eyes open for!
At 5 pm, the on-site collections will begin with Red Carter. His collections are known for their wild flavor and sexy shapes!
At 7 pm, L*SPACE Swimwear by Monica Wise will debut. This is one that I am especially excited about- I love L*SPACE bathing suits, and my friend has the cutest black fringe top from one of the L*SPACE collections! I am very eager to see what Wise will have for us with her 2013 collection… all I do know is that it will be super fun, cute, and sexy!
Next up is White Sands Australia, reflecting a love of exotic destinations and haute fashion by designer Leah Madden. She is known for her seaside chic style and vintage inspiration.
At 9 pm will be Luli Fama by Lourdes “Luli” Hanimian and Augusto Hanimian. Luli Fama incorporates a wide mix of color palettes and textures, with looks that are sophisticated, festive and charmingly girly.
Second to last on Sunday night is Suboo by Sue Di Chio, whose style compliments both the Northern and Southern hemisphere summer lifestyles.

Finally, at from 11 pm-12:30 am on Sunday night will be Rose by Vanessa Jean Simmons. If you’re an MTV or Rev Run fan, then here’s a designer you’ll recognize! Her designs are fashion forward with cutting edge style and glamour… This is definitely one collection that I will be anxious to see! Vanessa is known for combining her fabulous style with an amazing youthful vibe.
The final night of Swim Fashion Week will be on Monday, July 23rd at 6 pm starting with Wildfox Swim, an American vintage-inspired women’s brand. Creative forces Emily Faulstich and Kimberley Gordon are super girly and fun, so I anticipate their collection being a hit for viewers who are both young and young at heart.
Following will be ANK by Mirla Sabino, a Brazilian swimwear line. ANK delivers a line of swim and resort wear with delicate and daring prints.
At 8 pm will be Aguaclara, Aquarella Swimwear, Cote d’OR Swimwear, and Sauvage. This fun and unique bunch of designers will be keeping your attention the whole time with their cool, sophisticated and sexy styles!
At 9 pm is A.Z Araujo who combines the sexiness of Brazil with the chic edgy presence of the New York consumer- this sounds like a must see!
To cap off the Mercedes-Benz Swim Fashion Week 2013 in Miami will be Anna Kosturova, Dorit, KEVA l J., and Naïla at 10 pm. Naïla is a brand that offers eco-friendly swimwear, obvious thumbs up. Dorrit offers a very versatile and simplistic collection. Designer Dorit Lemel believes looking good should be effortless. KEVA l J. has a sexy and diva vibe to her styles (in a good way!) and Anna Kosturova features beautiful hand-crocheted swimwear! This is not a night you want to miss, it sounds like Miami plans on going out with a bang!
If you love swimwear as much as I do, check out the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week happening right now! These Swim 2013 collections are definitely going to heat up Miami during this next week, so be sure to stay on top of all the hot new styles and selections (I know I will). I am especially excited for new designers like Vanessa Jean Simmons, continuing designers like Paula Saavedra with Caffe, and longtime designers like Dolores Cortés! Keep us posted with your favorites designs from all the Swim 2013 collections!
